EMERALD-Lewy Engages Public Through Interactive Games at European Researchers’ Night

EMERALD-Lewy was pleased to take part in this year’s European Researchers’ Night, joining a wide range of initiatives designed to bring research closer to the public in an informal and engaging setting. The event provided a welcoming space for members of the general public to meet researchers, ask questions, and learn more about ongoing work in a relaxed and accessible environment.

As part of our contribution, we piloted a new awareness-raising games activity designed to spark conversation about Lewy body dementia. The activity used simple, interactive game-based approaches to introduce key symptoms associated with Lewy body dementia in an approachable and non-clinical way. Many participants shared their own experiences and questions, contributing to rich and thoughtful conversations throughout the evening.

This pilot activity forms part of EMERALD-Lewy’s broader commitment to innovative outreach methods. By using creative and interactive tools, we aim to improve understanding of Lewy body dementia and highlight the importance of research in developing better support and care.

We would like to thank the organisers of European Researchers’ Night for the opportunity to participate and for fostering such an inspiring environment for public engagement with science.
